When they moved their London HQ to a new  floor of the Leadenhall Building (Cheesegrater) they wanted to transform the user experience in their meeting spaces

The Brief

Design Integration designed and installed the AV systems when our client moved into their existing office space in 2015 and were delighted to extend this partnership when selected to deliver the AV in conjunction with Mix Consultants and Parkeray

The new office design comprised the following spaces that required AV systems:

  • 3no 6 Person Meeting Rooms
  • 1no Boardroom
  • 1no Executive Office
  • IPTV system for open area displays

The client uses Microsoft Teams as their standard for video conferencing and Microsoft Teams Rooms (MTR’s) were required in all meeting spaces. In addition, the clients team needed flexibility to make video calls using other software applications such as Zoom or Googlemeet, and this functionality was to be available via user laptops and a Room PC, which anyone can use. Finally, all meeting rooms should have live TV for monitoring of global markets and events

The Solutions

In order to achieve the required outcome a bespoke combination of technologies was required along with the deployment of a new Teams interop from the Q-SYS control platform

  • LG Commercial Pro displays
  • Yealink Teams Room equipment &                                               accessories (Microsoft MTR)
  • USB-C connectivity for BYOD conferencing
  • Lightware HDMI/USB Switching
  • Shure digital ceiling microphone arrays
  • Mediastar IPTV Headend &                                                Endpoints/Players
  • Q-SYS DSP & Control incl. Control for MTR application allowing the Yealink Touchpanel to be used for general room set up/control

All meeting room equipment was to be installed/stored locally (aside from the centralised control processor) which presented some challenges in being able to lay out and cable a large amount of equipment behind displays

The DI-fference

Team DI tested this unique meeting room design off site to ensure functionality and to identify any potential issues prior to the equipment being installed. Behind screen assemblies were built, wired and tested off site in order to make the most efficient use of wall space behind the displays. We were really pleased with the finished installations and particularly impressed with the Q-SYS Control for MTR Application which worked really well and opens up many possibilities for future requirements and applications when deploying Teams Rooms

We initially supplied the Yealink video equipment to the client as a demo for appraisal prior to it being selected for this project, and we found it to be easy to deploy and excellent value, as well as having reasonable lead times
